Your Money: Save on New Tech

10 Sep

With everyone talking about the iPhone 6 launch, it got me thinking about how early adopters save on new technology. Buying older smartphones is the best way to save money on mobile, but the techies among us want the latest and greatest — and they want it now. So how can they buy the next-best-thing on a budget? I offered some ideas to Good Day Colorado’s Kirk Yuhnke this morning.

Great tips…especially the one about waiting until the initial rush dies down a bit. Excellent segment Kendal!

Some good points, especially about the installment plans, it’s like having a 0% interest payment plan as mentioned.

I’m not sure that locked vs. unlocked phones is that much of a consideration these days though now that the Unlocking Consumer Choice and Wireless Competition Act has been passed. Even if you had a locked phone, one should be able to unlock it now and move it to another wireless carrier without consequence.

Thanks for commenting, Matt! I’m not familiar with the Unlocking Consumer Choice and Wireless Competition Act, but from the sounds of it, I need to educate myself soon! It looks like your blog is a great resource for alternative, lower-cost mobile plans and devices. I look forward to reading more about your findings!
